Programs

Everything we do is dedicated to preparing a critical mass of native Bostonians to live in, work in, and revitalize the city’s least developed communities.

Purposeships (Purpose Fellowships)

The Purpose Fellows program or Purposeships helps young adults 18-24 years old who are not attending four-year colleges develop the skills to lead artistic organizations and businesses.

Projects

Each fellow will participate in two types of projects.

Consulting Project – Purpose Fellows work on a special 8-12 week project for a artistic organization or small business based in Boston’s least economically developed areas to address a specific business problem.

Microventure – Fellows design and sell a product or service with a budget of $500 and profit goal of $1,000.

Plan

Purpose Fellows work with a foundation mentor and field-specific expert to craft a realistic and ambitious 10 year goal.  We work backwards from the 10 year goal to create two-year milestones, which will be the focus of the mentoring relationship.

Long-Term Mentoring

Fellows participate in weekly mentoring sessions with a foundation mentor and monthly mentoring with a field-specific mentor for two years. We conduct extensive follow-up mentoring to help fellows work towards their two-year milestones and ultimately their 10 year goal.
